Family Sponsorship

Bring Your Family to Canada!

Canada values family reunification through immigration programs that enable Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their loved ones for permanent residence. The Family Sponsorship Program serves as a primary pathway for bringing families together.

Eligible sponsors can apply to bring these family members to Canada:

  • Your Spouse or Partner: Including married, common-law, or conjugal partners. Must prove a genuine relationship with the sponsor.
  • Dependent Children: Children under 22 who are not married or in a common-law relationship.
  • Parents and Grandparents: Available through the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP), with limited intake periods.
  • Other Relatives (in rare cases): In exceptional circumstances, sponsors may bring orphaned siblings, nieces, nephews, or grandchildren

To sponsor a family member, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Prove financial ability to support the sponsored person
  • Sign an undertaking for financial support
  • Not receive social assistance (except for disability reasons)
  • Meet additional Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requirements

Family sponsorship allows you to reunite with your loved one and live together in Canada. This  program will allow your family members access to healthcare, education, and employment opportunities and soon opens the door to future Canadian citizenship!
